What is Common Senses?
By all-natural perfumer Victoria Artz
Common Senses was born from a simple truth: we navigate the world through our senses, and it is through them that we remember who we are and how deeply connected we are to one another.
Common speaks to the shared humanity between us.
Senses honors the art of perception, scent, touch, sight, sound, taste and the way they root us in presence, memory, and community. Whether we experience all five senses or only some, sensing is what makes us human.
What began as a quiet dream grew louder and louder until it had to be bottled and shared.
Common Senses is an independent perfume house specializing in custom and limited-edition all-natural botanical perfumes, crafted with the finest ingredients. It is also a living, breathing community one that gathers through classes, sensory rituals, and immersive experiences that reconnect us to nature and to ourselves.
Before scent, Victoria spent over 15 years in the tech world working at Meta and several startups, and earlier founding her own tech company. She understands systems, scale, leadership, and what it means to build something from the ground up. Yet despite outward success, something essential was missing.
In 2014, after a life-altering battle with leukemia, everything changed.
That experience became a threshold, an initiation, an invitation into deep self-remembrance. On that journey, Victoria discovered her love for the art of natural perfumery and trained with legendary perfumer Mandy Aftel and several others. What felt new was also ancient. The connection to plants, ritual, and intuition had always been there waiting, at the tip of her nose.
Scent became both medicine and language. A way to translate memory, identity, desire, and transformation into something tangible and intimate.
Today, Victoria blends her background in tech, entrepreneurship, and embodiment with the artistry of natural perfume. She collaborates with individuals, brands, and creatives to craft one-of-a-kind scents; offers custom scent sessions as portals into self-expression and future visioning; and coaches those navigating reinvention, creativity, and purpose especially after major life transitions.
Common Senses is for those who know that scent is our most ancient language, a forgotten doorway back to instinct, memory, and power and that when we reclaim our senses, we reclaim ourselves. For those who value craftsmanship, presence, and meaning. For those ready to come home to themselves through the senses.
The magic was always right here.
I invite you to come play with me.
